Land management is not simple – not in Alberta, not anywhere. Municipalities, government agencies and land use planners make decisions that shape not just our landscape, but also our economy and our quality of life.The Alberta Land Institute (ALI) is a land use research and policy think-tank that brings sound information and objective advice to land use planning and decision-making in Alberta.We aim to build research capacity and transfer knowledge to the land use planners and policy-makers who can make best use of it.We help Albertans make better land use decisions by:1) Funding: We support science and economic researchers by directly providing project funding and by helping them secure additional research grants. 2) Sharing: When research teams are ready to report their findings, we share their learnings with policymakers, stakeholders, and the public. We also host and present at workshops and conferences around the world.3) Nonpartisan stakeholder engagement: We do not lobby for any particular policy, but are dedicated to sharing objective and impartial knowledge with planners and policy-makers. We outline the consequences of alternative policies, as proven by sound research and study.As Albertans make decisions that shape our landscape for generations to come, ALI is proud to contribute an objective foundation for discussion, consensus, and decision-making.
