Audio-Feel is a device which gives the opportunity to people who can't hear sound, to feel sound.Audio-Feel is currently in the process of trying to get funded http://igg.me/at/audiofeel/x/6282861 for its device.There are currently over 6.500.000 people around the world who are deaf, and only 500.000 of them have the financial possibility to proceed with a cochlear implant, which can cost anywhere between $50.000 and $150.000. With Audio-Feel these people can have the possibility to feel the sound and voices around them at a cost between $500 and $1.000. Let's give them a chance by contributing or financing this project!The Audio-Feel device works with the following basic technology:A microphone transfers the sound to a Tactile Vocoder, which breaks down the sound to 100 different frequencies within 300Hz and 3500Hz, and each of these frequencies are transferred to an array of pins 10x10, one cm apart from each other. Each pin vibrates when its particular frequency is sounded, and vibrates more or less depending on the intensity of the sound (you can imagine that it would look like a graphic equalizer, only the LED from the graphic equalizer are pins vibrating on your skin). This array is strapped onto the skin, usually around the belly area, and with a little training, someone can learn what each sound feels like and means (it will actually be like learning a new language). Eventually the person using it can repeat sounds and (feel) listen to themselves knowing the sounds they are making are correct. We have dome major testing, and now want to produce the prototype and launch a final Audio-Feel product.
