The first fund, launched 24th January 2011, is The IFSL Carbon Footprint UK350 Equity Index Tracker Fund administered by IFSL, part of BNP Paribas Group. The fund aims to provide long-term capital growth by giving investors exposure to the performance of the UK 350 Carbon Optimised Index calculated by FTSE International. Carbon data analysis shows the fund could reduce an investor's carbon footprint whilst giving them exposure to all constituents of FTSE 350. By using carbon data analysis and a bespoke index the investment manager can increase weighting in carbon efficient companies and be underweight in less attractive companies. This can be done whilst maintaining sector neutrality. The EU ETS & CRC Energy Efficiency Scheme will have a significant impact on share prices, with the more inefficient companies in CO2 emissions struggling to compete in terms of share price performance with the more efficient companies. The fund is designed to maximize returns from the impact of this legislation.
