Although there are more than 40 Lac NGOs in India. Chaalak, the first of its kind of NGO in India, working largely for Truck Drivers & their families. Truck Drivers, one of the most neglected, down trodden communities. These people are looked with no pity and suffer the hatred of the society. After Railways the complete Indian Economy is dependent upon the truck drivers. The recent Truck Drivers strike resulted in almost Billions of Rs blow to Indian economy within two days. This is a mere example how our economy is dependent upon the Truckers. However till date no concrete effort has been put up either by the Government or by any NGO, for the development of the Truck Drivers or for the welfare of their families. These Truck Drivers drive thousands of miles, day and night whether rainy or sunny, hot or humid, June or December. They drive each day so we get our fruits, vegetables, daily products, etc on time, and every time we need them. But do we ever pay any heed about these truck drivers? Do we think about their Families, their Children, their Parents? Who would be taking care of their parents when parents are sick and need medical facilities? Who would check if their children are studying properly, or if they are going to school? Or are they get proper nurture? Who would give their wives money when they need, as their husbands are thousand miles away from them and they even cannot communicate with them?
