CommonLands is committed to helping close this wealth gap by providing accessible, affordable equitable housing on a national level to support working families and lower income communities. CommonLands eliminates the current economic or social barriers to homeownership. We are doing this by creating a radical housing model that disrupts the current real estate market. We call it the first, "decentralized autonomous housing cooperative." Our vision is to use the Decentralized Autonomous Organization model (that we are seeing in Decentralized Finance) and the Cooperative Housing structure to create an equitable housing opportunity that will meet the market demand and house 1 million families in the next 5 years. We are able to meet the massive demand for affordable housing by using blockchain technology to automate the cooperative housing structure, creating a model that can quickly and easily be replicated and expanded to meet specific community needs. We have created a scalable solution to massively transform homeownership for working families and vulnerable communities who face economic barriers. Our model will use blockchain to fundamentally restructure how housing works - in America, and then around the world.We have found that a Housing Cooperative (coop, for short) is an implementation of a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (also known as a DAO). If we applied the best aspects of DAOs to coops, we could create a scalable solution to meet community housing needs and massively transform homeownership for low income families and vulnerable communities who face economic barriers to homeownership.
