Thanks for visiting DIBL.DIBL began as a project to showcase and monetize the artistic talents of two of my nieces, and to keep me busy in semi-retirement.As the idea matured I learned more about the business processes involved, but also gained a deeper understanding of my own motivation for this effort.We often feel things without a thorough understanding of why.When I dug deeper into my "why", I figured out that what I really want is to facilitate an opportunity for creative expression and recognition for moms who may feel trapped in the daily grind of keeping it all together.Why is that important?Well, for starters many of the most important people in my life are moms. I was blessed with time and inclination to learn and practice entrepreneurship. Besides the time and financial considerations, there is a huge cultural bias that pigeon-holes a lot of "working" moms into low-level jobs they hate just to make ends meet. Once they are in it, its hard to break out.Secondly, art influences society by changing opinions, instilling values and translating experiences across space and time. Art in this sense is communication. It allows people from different cultures and different times to communicate with each other via images, sounds and stories. Art is often a vehicle for social change. Moms play a pivotal role in determining what we become as a people. Their voices need to be heard.Artistic expression facilitates self-examination and discovery. It helps us understand our true selves and purpose.Art is also therapeutic for the creator and the observer. Art calms, soothes, and heals the troubled soul.DIBL's mission is to create a community that inspires and rewards creativity and encourages artistic expression.DIBL intentionally limits the number of designers and artists featured to those whose work best reflects the values and needs of the community we serve.
