Friends of B.R.Y.C.E. (FOB) was created out of a need to directly address conversion / repairative therapy programs. These programs have been denounced by the American Psychological Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Social Workers Association and the American Counselors Association as being ineffective and even more grievous, can lead to life-long mental trauma. Sadly, in many cases; suicide is the end result. FOB is here to offer Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgendered and Intersex individuals the facts about their humanity and provide possible alternatives of going into treatment. We will strive to do whatever we can to help individuals come to terms with themselves and if possible, escape from those who try and force or otherwise coerce someone into one of these horrible antiquated and dangerous programs. In addition, we strive to educate the public as to the truth about these programs and the misinterpretation of scripture used to terrorize individuals into believing they are less then worthy in the eyes of their creator. We also lobby our lawmakers to appropriately and honestly address this issue, as well as legislate these programs as part of the mental health industry and strip them of their cloak of protection under freedom of religion.
