Garden River First Nation. Also known as Ketegaunseebee is located just outside of Sault Ste. Maire Ontario. Garden River is a non-for-profit organization. The First Nation employs nearly 250 employees throughout different departments within the organization including Public Works Department, Education Department, Administration and Finance, Housing Department, Niigaaniin Department, Wellness Centre, Lands & Resources Department, Aggregates/Gravel Pit, Business Entities, Child Care Centre, Golf Course, Bingo Hall. The people living in this area were well known for their vegetable growing along the route the voyagers and explorers followed. Charles Church, established a store on Sugar Island next to the St. Mary's River. Church purchased vegetables from the First Nations and sold them to the voyagers as they passed through.
