Grace House Akron (GHA) is grounded in the knowledge that there are too many individuals in our community, who are at the end of life, with nowhere to go, and no one to care for them. We believe that everyone deserves to die in the presence of care, compassion, and dignity, and that no one should die alone. Our mission is to provide a loving home for indigent, homeless and abandoned individuals at the end of life. Our vision is to provide access to compassionate care and comfort, at the end of life for anyone in the greater Akron area, at no cost.We fulfill our mission and vision by providing those at the end of life, in conjunction with partner hospice teams, a nurturing environment, basic physical needs (food, safe shelter and personal care), dignity, comfort and compassion, and emotional and spiritual support.GHA serves vulnerable, hospice enrolled adults in Summit County, with terminal illnesses, who are without caregiver support and would otherwise spend their final days alone and/ or in undesirable conditions. Risk factors include homelessness, housing insecure, mental health issues, addiction disorders, abandoned or friendless, poverty/indigency; veteran or refugee status, disability and addiction/ dependency.
