Born in the United States of a Palestinian-Qatari father and an Algerian mother who lived in France, brought up in Qatar, educated in France and living in Jordan for the past ten years, Leila's exposure has brought to her to understand different cultures and their own sensitivities.Though a designer by education, her first professional experience was in the commercial business of diamonds. She held many thousands of beautiful stones, learning how to recognise them and appreciate their different qualities. "Surrounded by all these precious gems, my heart was always set on designing a piece around them," she recalls. Her first creation, which she wears to this day, is a sleek dagger-shaped gold pendant. Discrete yet powerful, it is built around a dark champagne diamond, its shaft studded with lighter diamonds. Several years down the line, it still is as relevant as ever to Leila's style and creative process.Leila finds her inspiration in emotions. "I am a person's person: I enjoy meeting people, discussing their journeys and feelings." Translating those into jewels is her specific work.
