Lex and Otis is a premiere animation studio that specializes in development art and storyboards for animation, video games, and film and TV. Driven by the belief that animation can employ ground-breaking visuals, dynamic cinematography, and believable characters—all in service of mature narrative—Lex and Otis pursues ambitious projects that that will captivate audiences with memorable storytelling. In 2019, Lex and Otis began development on its first series for Netflix—based on the iconic comic book Trese. At the time, the studio was just five people. In 2020, Lex and Otis grew to over thirty core staff—including storyboard artists, directors, and visual development artists. As the studio expands its footprint, the year will see Lex and Otis developing over a dozen animated series for various platforms.Based on Jay's award-winning experiences directing animation for DC Comics, Warner Bros, Marvel, and Dreamworks, Lex and Otis embraces an agile approach to animation that eliminates wasteful production behaviors and ensures that the love artists pour into their work winds up on-screen for the audience to enjoy.
