OpenNTF was founded in December 2001 by Bruce Elgort and Nathan T Freeman and launched in 2002. The organization provided a hosting site for sharing applications and useful code for the Notes and Domino platform. Projects have included full blown client and web applications, rich client plugins, administrative tools and more. Over the years the scope of OpenNTF has expanded, to include IBM Sametime, IBM Connections, IBM Connections Cloud, IBM Forms, IBM Websphere Portal and beyond. OpenNTF have also hosted developer contests, webinars, and a collaboration solutions news aggregator (Collaboration Today). OpenNTF has been active in the IBM community at user groups and Lotusphere / IBM Connect / IBM ConnectED.In May 2009 the new OpenNTF Alliance was established. In 2011 the Alliance was replaced by the newly incorporated OpenNTF, which is registered as a non-profit trade organization, as set out in section 501 (c)(4) of US Internal Revenue Code.
