An at-risk teen entrepreneurship program in Portland, OR. Working in conjunction with Portland Public Schools to create a program integrated with and potentially supplementing their entrepreneurship classes,we are sponsoring and mentoring an initial group of 10-12 teens to get hands on experience with their own startup businesses. This will be a combination internship and mentor program while providing the kids the opportunity to build their own companies and reap the financial benefits of that business. The teens' equity in the parent organization and increased equity in their own company will be tied to completion of academic and business goals. Increasing the number of kids in the program would be assessed quarterly to verify outcomes for the students and to ensure we have adequate adult involvement and funding. After a few years, this would be self-sustaining with graduates of the program mentoring new candidates and profit percentages from alumni businesses funding further growth and development.
