OpenChannel is a two screen solution aimed at getting homebound residents on the priority list of responders during a disaster in a cheap, easy, low bandwidth and relevant way. This two part system has a touch screen in the home of each homebound resident that shows up on a map screen at the responder command centers during a disaster. Instead of bandwidth intensive telephony which may be disabled during a disaster anyway, OpenChannel is a four button solution that provides the timely and relevant status of vulnerable residents without stressing existing communication systems, while also enhancing responder situational awareness on typical map screen.
