Our Power is a community solar program/initiative of the Toronto Renewable Energy Co-operative (TREC) that has been launched recently. The program is designed to help residential homeowners with the evaluation and purchase of PV solar panels for their rooftops, bringing them closer to a purchase decision, while connecting them to vendors. The program grew from TREC's experience in community solar initiatives such as the Riverdale Initiative for Solar Energy (RISE), West-End Initiative for Solar Energy (WISE) and several others that emerged in 2006 and 2007. With new opportunities under the Green Energy Act, Our Power is responding by establishing itself as the "HUB" of homeowner solar energy growth in the GTA and Ontario, by providing a compelling meeting place and business exchange that addresses all homeowner purchasing needs and delivers buying leads to our industry partners. In record time, the success of the program has resulted in the installation of 100 residential solar PV systems generating $2 million for Ontario solar companies. The Toronto Renewable Energy Co-operative is an incorporated, not-for-profit organization that has been working for more than 10 years to develop co-operatively owned renewable energy projects in Ontario and to educate about renewable energy, conservation, and the community power model.
