OxPolicy: The Oxford Student Think TankOxPolicy is a student think tank run by Oxford University students which produces analysis and recommendations of policy solutions to big problems. Through promotion of active involvement and engaging outreach to students and community, we also seek to improve the quality of the debate on pressing issues and what can be done.Founded in mid 2013, OxPolicy has grown rapidly since its inception, producing several full-length reports into issues varying from Human Trafficking to Development Aid. Our work has been reviewed in government, by local MPs and policy players, and by academics & influential think tanks such as Open Europe and Reform. We have hosted events featuring the directors of leading NGOs, peers, think tank researchers and civil servants. Our blog is rapidly expanding its reach and attracts guest posts and a buzz on social media.We are organizationally a part of the Oxford Hub, which is a charity coordinating the volunteering and social-engagement projects within Oxford. With this background, we focus on issues of salience for the society as a whole. We are however editorially and managerially independent, and as such we take a fully non-aligned stance. We do not identify with any political cause, and our solutions advocate reforms which we feel should engender cross-party or balanced support across the body of our work. A 2014 poll of students suggested that we score 4.5/5 in this aim.OxPolicy provides a hub of experience and connections, a publications platform and a forum for debate. We bring students together from different faculties and years, providing expert advice through contact with graduate mentors, access to prominent academics and events featuring leaders in their field. We seek also to promote the long term development of students and community members by providing skills-based training and by exposing the policy process. We are growing rapidly, and partnerships are always considered.
