Oxbow Schoolhouse is a small, Waldorf-inspired private elementary school program in the Devens community serving children in grades 1-6. At Oxbow Schoolhouse the teachers strive to recognize each child's individual gifts and bring out the best in each student. A deep connection to nature and a respect for one's environment (both indoors and out) is supported through the use of high quality, natural materials as well as outdoor educational activities. Harmonious daily rhythms, seasonal stories, and the practical arts (like knitting, wood working, and cooking) bring rich experiences to children and help reinforce cooperative and respectful attitudes. A combination of academics, the arts, and practical work lays the foundation for a life of creative thinking, self-sufficiency and enthusiasm for learning.
