PlayItNow is a mobile app for requesting a song at a nightclub or bar, on the radio or at your favorite live concert. Listeners attach a real dollar bid to each request and if the song is played, the bid is pocketed by the artist as a tip.It started because of the usual boy meets girl story. On realizing they liked the same song - the boy with all his young, romantic enthusiasm tried to request the song to the DJ to create 'that' moment. By the time he did, the girl was gone. That boy was me. The exchange between a DJ and a partygoer often ends in frustration and annoyance. Today, there is no good way but to fight through the dance floor and have a shouting match with the DJ provided the DJ is willing to even listen. DJs play music night after night in the dark (pun intended here). On the other hand, it just takes one song to make a millions emotions come back for a party goer. The ability to organically create that moment is what excites us!
