The Malay Language & Cultural Club (MLCC) is a student-led organization at Singapore Management University. As a club, we hope to achieve our vision of being the premier tertiary organization for Malay language and culture. Our aim is to create greater awareness and appreciation of the Malay culture and language through our activities while contributing back to the society and fostering a close rapport with Malay organizations. As MLCC, we organize engaging events catered to SMU's Malay community. Some of our notable events include Alam Ghaib Series, Iftar Night, Mat Gala and our annual Freshman Orientation Camp. Under us, we have 2 performing arts sub-committees: Rentak (percussion) and Persadamu (theatre). Rentak is the only Malay percussion ensemble at the tertiary level, in which members are exposed to the different Malay percussion instruments such as Kompang and Marwas, as well as delve into the history and variations of Malay percussion music.Persadamu is our biennial theatre production through which members bring to light pertinent issues found within the Malay community.
