Smart-Girl is a Colorado nonprofit organization that empowers girls to make smart choices and become confident, capable, and self-reliant young women. Through its program structure, activity-based curriculum, and mentor-led format, Smart-Girl helps girls to: become positive change agents for themselves and others, develop emotional intelligence and empathy skills, learn and practice critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and increase self-awareness and values that lead to success in life. Smart-Girl allows adolescent girls to discover new sources of inner strength and self-worth and to nurture positive hopes and dreams for their future. The activity-based program gives girls a chance to practice new skills, talk about what they have learned, and focus on listening, empathy, and understanding others.Primary AudienceGirls between 10 and 14 from all socio-economic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.Secondary AudienceYoung women trained to become mentors for Smart-Girl participants.Smart-Girl envisions a world where all girls have the knowledge, skills, and attitudes they need to reach their highest potential.
