Welcome to the Southern Plains Tribal Health Board (SPTHB), a non-profit organization located in the heart of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Established in 1972, our mission is to serve as a unified voice, addressing the crucial tribal public health needs and policies of the 43 federally recognized tribes residing in Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. As a proud organization, we are privileged to have representatives from the 12 service units in the Indian Health Service (IHS) Oklahoma Area as valued members of our board. At SPTHB, we play a vital role in fostering effective communication between the National Indian Health Board, which works closely with Congress and the Senate on Indian Health Policy for Indian Country, and the 43 federally recognized tribes within our region. Our primary objective is to enhance tribal public health outcomes for American Indians by forging strategic partnerships, engaging in advocacy efforts, providing educational resources, facilitating data and research initiatives, and offering comprehensive training programs.Through our dedicated efforts and collaborative approach, we strive to create positive and lasting impacts on the health and well-being of our tribal communities.
