In the envisioned scenario, heterogeneous DTs, associated with physical objects and humans, are permanently hosted in the remote Cloud and they may be temporarily instantiated at the network edge, when they need to support specific IoE applications, e.g., with low-latency requirements.DTs leverage the Social IoT (SIoT) paradigm to foster trustworthy and effective interactions and therefore support the services required by IoE applications, according to the needs of the users.In parallel, edge nodes implement the clean-slate ICN architecture thus enabling name-based network primitives that facilitate data dissemination and support in-network caching and service provisioning. DTs, hosted by edge nodes as consumer and producer applications, will access the ICN primitives to effectively exchange data and services among them, and with physical end-devices.In this context, TOGETHER will focus on the mechanisms for the optimal orchestration of DTs at the edge, ranging from the design of comprehensive models representing the DTs' behavior, attributes, data and services, to the strategies for their composition, based on social awareness, and optimal placement, based on artificial intelligence (AI) techniques. Moreover, the project will investigate new ICN naming schemes, forwarding strategies and optimal caching policies to efficiently support the data exchange and service provisioning originated by DTs.Together is funded by the European Union - NextGenerationEU.
