Tennessee Urban Outdoors brings outdoor activities to black and brown people and families in Tennessee, and advocates for them. TUO was created in response to the need for more people to be outside in local, state, and federal parks and sites.Due to the pandemic, fewer people ventured outside. People can find it hard to see the beauty of nature when they are surrounded by technology, especially young adults. TUO is positioning itself as the primary partner for organizations and brands that promote healthy, and fun, outdoor activities.The organization was founded in 2022 by health and wellness professional Demetra Davis. Demetra is an honorably discharged veteran of the United States Air Force, a registered nurse, and the owner and CEO of Gordavi, LLC. For-profit, Gordavi provides government contact services in the areas of leadership development training, self-assessment administration, and equity and inclusion.Demetra connected with now board members LaVor Rogers, and Lord Danavan Hylton, a Nashville-based marketing professional. The three board members set a goal of supporting and advancing the holistic wellbeing of black and brown families in Tennessee through education and physical engagement.Tennessee Urban Outdoors offers sponsors unique opportunities to customize their interaction with attendees and the surrounding community.
