The Living Room supports and celebrates LGBTQ+ youth, ages 14-20, in Clackamas County. Our programming is youth led and our services are rooted in youth-adult partnership. We offer accessible programming and resources that encourage the personal growth, sense of belonging, and development of leadership skills among LGBTQ+ youth and their allies.Our Mission: Creating a supportive and welcoming community for and with LGBTQ+ youth in Clackamas County through advocacy and education.Our Vision: A community where LGBTQ+ youth thrive.The Living Room began in 2009 after a local mother's search for community for her daughter came up empty. Our founder, Carolyn Russel, began looking for a community for her newly out daughter and realized that there was a huge need for resources for LGBTQ+ youth. Pairing up with R.E. Szego, they worked to create a safe place to build community and The Living Room was born! Carolyn and R.E.'s focus on relationship, support, care, and belonging created a unique approach to youth engagement that continues to meet the real needs of youth across the region. Today, we continue their vision as we work to create a Clackamas County where all LGBTQ+ youth can feel valued, welcomed, and celebrated.
