TIC is a charity based in Hull and representing people from all areas of Yorkshire who are affected by the neurological condition Tourettes Syndrome and tic disorders. Tic began as a small support group that met once a month in the East of Hull. Due to a lack of understanding and limited available resources, our members were often the only support network available to each other. Education has always been one of the biggest barriers our children face, with Tourettes Syndrome (TS) affecting around 1 in every 100 school children, more and more families were crying out for help. TIC began to grow and started offering awareness talks to teachers in the City. TIC became a registered charity in June 2019 (1184015) since then we have delivered our talks to teachers in over 30 schools throughout Yorkshire. We continue to meet once a month averaging 40+ members in attendance. Our group meetings are a place that both children and adults can come to tic free with no judgement and were advice and life stories can be shared.TIC has just received National Lottery Funding to help with running costs for the next 3 years, we have over 300 members on our facebook group and are a Hull 2020 Champion.our current projects are workshops to promote inclusion and self-help, additional groups for adults and carers, and a symposium in June to help create better understanding.
