Alcohol is one of the most accepted intoxicating substances in the world. In fact, 58% of the U.S. population regularly drinks, and an estimated 17% regularly binge drinks. Most of this drinking is seen as normal, even social, a necessary aspect of going out and having a good time with friends and family. But, what happens when it's more than that? For the 6.2% of the U.S. population addicted to alcohol, drinking is life-changing and life-ruining. Alcohol-use disorder is a behavioral disorder impacting every aspect of the affected person's life, health, and livelihood. And, for the 88,000 people who die of alcohol-related problems each year, life-ending.
