Based in Frederiksberg (the independent green city in the middle of Copenhagen), Denmark, Ugly Duckli was founded back in 2001, with the mission of sharing the timeless Danish tradition of weaving paper hearts internationally. The name and the concept of the company are inspired by Hans Christian Andersen, the Danish author of the fairy-tale "The Ugly Duckling" among many others (The Little Mermaid, The Steadfast Tin soldier, The Little Match Girl, The Princess and Pea, etc.). Products:Ugly Duckli offers authentic Danish paper and 100% metal ornaments designed in Denmark. We partner with local manufacturers whenever possible, to support local businesses & to reduce CO2 transportation emissions.One popular product is the DIY Woven Paper Heart Gift Box, that includes everything necessary to recreate the timeless woven paper heart ornaments. The concept has been awarded for "Best New Product Design" at Formland, the largest professional gift fair in Denmark. Ugly Duckli also offers a selection of workshops, events and experiences to engage a fast growing audience with Danish customs and heritage traditions.

Ugly Duckli is donating 5% post-tax profits each year to the Danish NGO "Institut for Livskvalitet" (Institute of Quality of Life). This chosen NGO focuses on improving the quality of life for people with chronic pain issues.
