The ASEAN Society is a Guild of Students based group in the University of Birmingham. We aim to bring together people from ASEAN and others interested in ASEAN related issues to promote better engagement and foster a greater sense of affinity to the region. The society also helps to connect individuals and promote multiculturalism of the different member states (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam).We achieve this by conducting events and programmes that facilitate the exchange of ideas to stimulate intellectual curiosity and debate on ASEAN, its member states and its concerns. The society fosters an academic and learning environment focused on research and intellectual debate of issues related to the people, politics, trade, economics, environment, culture, and other aspects involving the ASEAN region, its member states and other subjects of particular interest to ASEAN.
