Our purpose is to support disabled people to live truly fulfilling lives - with greater independence and access to life changing opportunities. We're on a mission to reduce the social exclusion and social isolation which many disabled people face. We also want to change the way residential care homes are viewed in the UK. All too often these homes are cut off from their local communities. Our vision is to see them become vital community hubs.There are more than 11,000 residential care homes across the UK, home to nearly half a million people.We want to see an end to the invisible barrier between these homes and the places where they are located. They should be vital community assets, like the local pub, post office or village hall, for bringing people together. The benefits will be felt by all the people who live, work and volunteer in these homes - and their local communities. But society as a whole will also benefit.
