I started out writing poetry and studying belief when I was a kid, and somehow that's turned into a fascination with ngram analysis and memetics along the way. The result of this is that I've been working on a novel now for a very long time, entitled Memwar. I began working on Memwar in 1991, and had the basic ideas for the book structurally mapped out by 2004.In 2008 Edward Wilson and I co-authored a book titled The Art of Memetics with illustrations by Ray Carney. I also published this book as a way to learn more about new methods of product distribution and search engine optimization techniques for real-time and niche search – taking the idea of the public persona into an area of online social optimization, a discipline structured around manipulating all this insufferably cold media in ways that quaint media can't quite bend.In 2010 I began working on several technical applications beyond conventional search engine optimization techniques, tied specifically into ideas of feedback, in one case, and persuasive tropes, in another. This research is tied into project development now, and will likely produce some form of open source interface in 2011, more of which I'll bring up as it moves out of the skunkworks shadows and into public beta.
