The West Midlands Liberal Democrats are the regional organisation of the English Liberal Democrats. The West Midlands Regional Party is split into 34 geographical Local Parties and the West Midlands Young Liberals.Our excellent region includes five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), four UK cities (including the UK's second largest), three FTSE 100 companies, two UNESCO World Heritage Sites, and a University ranked within the top 100 in the world.Across the West Midlands Liberal Democrats are tirelessly working throughout the whole year to improve your local area on the issues that matter to you. You'll also find us working locally, nationally and internationally to improve the lives of you and your neighbours. To do this, we fight local council, mayoral, parliamentary and European elections. We also contribute to policy development, ensuring that the West Midlands is included within the party policy making process. You can find us proudly serving the counties of: Herefordshire, Shropshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire and Worcestershire and you will also find us working tirelessly to improve the metropolitan areas of: Birmingham, Coventry, Dudley, Sandwell, Solihull, Stoke on Trent, Telford & Wrekin, Walsall and Wolverhampton.What do we stand for?We believe the West Midlands should be the self-made place, with our fantastic educational institutions, industrial heritage and world-leading businesses, we have no excuse.We want to bring transformation through new technologies, and to do this we need to invest in our small and medium businesses and in our people and in our communities.With Brexit bringing great risks to our future, we desperately need stronger links with Europe and the rest of the world, promoting the best deal for our manufacturing heartland within the Single Market, and making us the place to do business in a modern, welcoming and cohesive society.We have much to celebrate: our diverse communities, our young population (the largest in Europe), and the largest student community in the UK. Too many of our young people leave too soon.30 years of Conservative and Labour Governments have let down the same areas of our region, time after time, we have little reason to expect anything different now. They have cut our services to the bone, and are now cutting £4 Billion more up to 2020. We want to reverse those cuts, investing in our services that are desperately needed across the region.How are we run?The West Midlands is run by the Regional Executive; a group of volunteers are who voted by the Members within the Region annually.
