Western Venture Association (WVA) is a student run business club based at the University of Western Ontario (UWO). Headed by top prospects attending the Richard Ivey Business School, WVA has a more focused mandate than many student run business clubs: to educate its members and promote interest and research of venture capital and private equity.WVA was first launched in the 2014 – 2015 academic year as a market test, to determine the level of interest in venture capital and private equity among students. Throughout the year, these members attended events with educational speakers, pitched venture ideas to club executives and colleagues, and were given hands on feasibility lessons as they attempted to market ventures to the public.With an evident interest in market research and the valuation of new business, WVA decided to strictly channel its mandate towards the research and educational promotion of venture capital and private equity for the 2015-2016 academic year. We aim to educate our members with a foundation of useful analysis techniques when executing an investment policy in venture capital or private equity.
