Tom Plant, Principal at Wheelhouse, worked on national policy at the Union of Concerned Scientists and then applied that experience as a legislative leader on environmental, energy and budget issues in the Colorado House of Representatives including chairmanship of the Joint Budget Committee and the House Appropriations Committee. Plant also has real world experience implementing community based programs as the Director of the non-profit Center for ReSource Conservation in Boulder, Colorado. In 2007, Plant Joined the Cabinet of Governor Bill Ritter, directing the state's energy office and advancing a New Energy Economy for Colorado. Four years later, Colorado had emerged as a national leader in clean energy policy and economic development in the clean tech sector. Wheelhouse Associates continues work with Governor Ritter and the Center for the New Energy Economy at Colorado State University.
