Wilson Tiger Athletics (WTA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in 2017 by a group of parents with the goal of supporting the athletic program of Woodrow Wilson High School, a public school in Washington DC. Wilson has 21 sports with over 40 different competitive teams, engaging approximately 900 student-athletes. Wilson has more active student athletes per season than any other DCPS high school has all year. Despite this incredible level of involvement, the Athletic Department's annual budget is a small fraction of what's needed to run a successful program. Athletics was previously able to supplement this through the Student Activity Fund and through the PTSO's generosity, but recent SAF rule changes and a growing program means that there are things that Wilson Athletics simply cannot pay for. WTA aims to bridge that gap.WTA aims to maintain an even more expansive role by helping teams in their fundraising efforts, sharing best practices, including information on collegiate recruitment, and allowing all Wilson sports teams to deposit funds they've raised for their specific teams.
