Winetasters Society of Toronto is one of Toronto's oldest and largest non-profit club offering fine wine tasting events to members for over thirty years. Our membership year ends June of each year and members pay an annual fee of $55 to help cover mailing and cellar costs. Dual membership at a shared address is $85.Members get access to tastings and other events for an additional event based fee. If space permits, members may bring guests.Members gather for tastings on the second Wednesday of each month from September to June. For nine of the tastings we meet at the North York Memorial Community Hall (5110 Yonge Street) where there is a subway stop for your convenience and safety. The events are structured as a blind tasting of 8 wines plus a mystery wine. A guest speaker leads the group through the tasting by introducing the wines of the evening with pertinent information about the region, the winemaker, the vintages, and taste profile we can expect. After tasting the wines the speaker and the members share their impressions of the wine.In December our format changes. A special party is held where a large variety of wines are available – you create your own tasting event! Old, new, traditional and novel – wines of every kind and price are available along with some great finger foods. In addition to the tastings, dinners are planned as the opportunities arise. The food and wine pairings are carefully planned with the chef of the restaurant to provide an interesting and enjoyable eveningMost wines for tasting events come from Winetasters' extensive cellar, which has been built up over the last twenty years and stored under ideal conditions.Tastings are priced on a break-even basis, using the historical cost of the wines plus room rental, glassware, insurance, and cellar costs. Members may bring guests for a premium over the member price.
