Xistu – Contemporary Jewelery is a project searching to articulate the author design, a personal and unique approach to the traditional Portuguese stone craftsmanship and traditional Portuguese lace-making.Xistu craftsmanship is where we try to change the rules in interpreting the lithic artefacts and the portuguese craftsmanship. We make them reborn again through artistic methods with a profound reflexion on the processes and techniques. That way, each medal is unique and uniquely crafted by hand with the traditional tools. Stone stands as the memories and cultures' primal matter through its durability and its transmutable personality. The motifs are chosen considering the rocks aesthetic and plastic features. Rocks such as gneiss, slate and calcareous schist are carefully selected throughout Portugal's most beautiful hills and beaches.
