Sunstar Entertainment is a Sydney based company, specialising in the fields of Sport and Entertainment, combining our diverse strengths of Film and Talent under one entity. Sunstar acquired the rights to LION, based on Saroo Brierley and his inspiring search for his family using Google Earth. Saroo reunited with his family in India after 25 years of separation. It is a story that touched the heart of millions of people around the world. Sunstar partnered with Academy Award winning production company See-Saw Films to produce Saroo's story. The Weinstein Company (TWC) purchased the international distribution rights to LION, at the 2014 Cannes Film Festival. LION received 6 Oscar Nominations including Best Picture and was the 5th highest grossing Australian film ever at the domestic box office. In 2020, Netflix announced the Jessica Watson biopic, TRUE SPIRIT is being developed into a feature film. Writers are Cathy Randall and Sarah Spillane. Sarah will also Direct. Producers are Andrew Fraser, Debra Martin-Chase and Susan Cartsonis. Shahen Mekertichian is Executive Producer. Production has just completed and release date will be announced soon.
