The mission of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy is to just, socially inclusive, environmentally sustainable, and healthy local, national, and global communities. The school has provided three decades of academic excellence and service to the public and private sectors of the state, region, and nation and is committed to a rebirth of the public service ethic in the United States. We support a wide variety of educational activities, from undergraduate and master's and doctoral degree programs to continuing education courses and conferences for professionals and alumni. Students come to the Bloustein School to be part of the solution to create a better tomorrow. In our increasingly urbanized and interconnected world, the convergence of our disciplines—urban planning, public policy, public health, health administration, and informatics—creates the opportunity to understand the importance of these disciplines in livability and health and well-being. The school encourages open discussion of all viewpoints, working together in a unique and multidisciplinary manner while promoting systematic thinking and innovative problem-solving aimed at some of society's most complex and challenging problems. Our STEM-designated urban planning program has consistently been ranked among the top five in the nation by the Planetizen Guide to Graduate Urban Planning Program. Less than a decade old, our health administration master's program was also ranked among the best in the nation, and #1 in New Jersey, in 2023 by U.S. News and World Report. The undergraduate public health major has also been ranked among the best in the U.S. by College Factual, including a #1 ranking for veterans and non-traditional students.
