Launched in 2010, the Institute for Child Success (ICS) is an independent research and applied policy organization. ICS works to create a culture that facilitates and fosters the success of all children. ICS supports policymakers, service providers, government agencies, funders, and business leaders focused on early childhood development, healthcare, and education, with the goal of improving the lives of young children prenatal to age eight and their families. ICS helps young children succeed by working with stakeholders to seek holistic solutions to complex early childhood challenges.ICS proposes smart public policies grounded in research to improve outcomes for all children. We believe in the power of bold ideas to shape the dialogue about our children's futures and build a more just society.

Across the United States, there are 3,000 conservation districts working to protect and sustain the soil, the water, the forests, the wildlife, the air and any other related natural resources.The Greenville County Soil & Water Conservation District receives funding from County Council and the S.C. State Department of Natural Resources to conduct programs.Five unpaid commissioners, three elected in the general election and two appointed by the state, meet monthly to guide the staff in following action plans for promoting conservation in various places and through educational opportunities. These meetings are open to the public.With the ultimate goal of saving the soil and water for future generations of South Carolinians, the local conservation district relies on volunteers to install best management practices on the land and to become educated about the importance of taking care of these natural resources.

The Main Street program began in 1990 to facilitate the revitalization of downtown Toccoa. The Mission Statement of Main Street Toccoa is to improve Toccoa's quality of life by strengthening downtown's role as the community's heart.Toccoa Main Street is a nonprofit organization formed to make the downtown district the economic and cultural center of the community. The overall objective is to improve the viability and appearance of the downtown district and to stimulate long-term reinvestment through business recruitment and retention, all within the context of historic preservation.Recent honors include the Great America Main Street Top Ten Semi-finalist from the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Excellence in Downtown Development Award from the Georgia Downtown Association, and the Excellence in Rehabilitation Award from the GA Trust for Historic Preservation.Main Street Toccoa has been accredited by the National Trust for Historic Preservation since 1000. Toccoa's Program is based on the National Trust for Historic Preservation's recommend four-point approach to downtown redevelopment within the context of historic preservation.
