Hoa Sen University is located in the center of dynamic HoChiMinh city, the commercial heart of Vietnam. The university was founded in 1991, during a period of economic and social transition as Vietnam began the process of integrating with the global economy.Technical training was quickly identified as a particular need at that time. Building on its mission and philosophy of educational excellence , the institution was granted college status in the late 1990s. and in 2006 gained full university statusFour departments were created offering programs in vocational technician training, junior college, bachelor of arts/science and post graduate degrees. These are: Polytechnic, Economics and Commerce, Science and Technology, Languages and Cultural Studies.The focus of the university has been on preparing students for employment in Vietnam's expanding and rapidly changing economy.
