Founded in 1999, Okan University is a dynamic University with close to 7000 students. It offers 52 undergraduate, 26 graduate programs and 3 Ph.D. programs under 5 Faculties, 2 Graduate Institutes, Schools of Applied Sciences and Health Sciences. Okan University also has a Vocational School that offers two-year, associate degree programs in various professional fields. The language of instruction in many of the academic programs is English. Those academic programs that instruct in Turkish offer some classes in English as well for international exchange students.\\Okan University has emphasized university-business cooperation since its establishment. Working together with various business sectors, the university has developed curricula and internship programs for its students to enhance their employability skills. True to its motto, "The University Closest to Business World", Okan University effectively combines theory and practice to best prepare students for professional life.

Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is the world's leading independent international medical relief organization, implementing and managing medical projects in close to 72 countries worldwide and as a worldwide movement of 25 associations, 24 sections, 17 offices and 6 operational entities.Our work focuses on emergency medical and humanitarian relief. We are guided by the principles of independence, neutrality and impartiality, as described in the MSF Charter. We implement our medical programs in areas where no health or sanitary systems exist, or where health structures are overwhelmed by the needs of populations.For 50 years, we have been providing medical assistance to people affected by armed conflicts, natural disasters, disease epidemics, malnutrition crises and other emergencies.We offer medical and humanitarian assistance to people based on their needs - irrespective of race, religion, gender or political affiliation. To ensure our independence, the majority of our funding is provided by private donations from members of the public. Kocaeli University's mother institution was founded in 1976 as Kocaeli State Academy of Engineering and Architecture, and housed Electrical and Mechanical  Faculty, Faculty of Natural Sciences and Institute of Foreign Languages. All of these schools became a part of Yildiz University's Kocaely Engineering Faculty in 1982, and changed its name into Kocaeli University in 3 July 1992. As of July 2006, Kocaeli University has 1890 academic staff including 171 professors,  84 associate professors, 434 assistant professos, 282 lecturers, 163 instructors, 704 research assistants and 52 specialists, and 975 admistrative staff who work in 11 faculties, 7 community colleges, 1 state conservatory, 18 vocational schools and 3 institutes.  As of February 2007, 50.476 students are enrolled in the university.
