The Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor (SNP) serves the People of the City of New York by promoting the fair and equitable administration of justice for those of all races, colors, genders, sexual orientations, religions and nations of origin. Our mission is to protect the public and prevent overdose deaths by investigating and prosecuting high-level narcotics trafficking organizations and illicit prescription drug distribution networks, and by responding to community complaints about persistent drug activity and associated violence. Targeted prosecutions and alternatives to incarceration are essential components of an effective strategy to save lives and reduce arrests. SNP is built on a task force model and collaborates closely with the city's five District Attorneys, who appoint the Special Narcotics Prosecutor. The office has citywide jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute felony narcotics cases and related crimes.
